The Brew that Builds the Morning

The Brew that Builds the Morning

There’s a specific kind of peace you only find in the early hours. Before the world gets loud, it’s just the steam rising from a mug and the quiet companionship of Christy and Zippy. In our house, the morning ritual isn’t about caffeine—it’s about the flavor.

I’ve never had time for decaf. If you’re going to do something, do it right.

The Coffee Rotation

When it comes to the daily grind, I don’t need a spreadsheet or a fancy barista. I want consistency. Right now, the rotation is locked in on two medium roasts that hit the mark every time:

  • Trader Joe’s Medium Roast: Clean, balanced, and reliable. It’s got a nutty profile that doesn’t try too hard.
  • McCafe Medium Roast: Don’t knock the classics. It’s smooth, predictable, and delivers exactly what a medium roast should without the burnt aftertaste.

The Afternoon Pivot

Sometimes the day calls for a different kind of focus. That’s where the tea comes in. I’ve always been partial to Twinings Earl Grey. It’s the gold standard for a reason—that sharp hit of bergamot is the perfect reset button.

I take mine hot with a single Splenda. It’s just enough to smooth out the edges of the tea without losing the soul of the leaf.

Whether it’s the coffee or the tea, it’s about the sensory experience. It’s about feeling the flavors and respecting the ritual.
