Fear is a Liar, Not the End

FEAR IS A LIAR, NOT THE END

We’ve all been there. You’re staring down a task that feels about three sizes too big for you. Maybe it’s a leadership role, a broken relationship, or a habit that’s had you in a chokehold for years. You look in the mirror and think, “I’m not the guy for this.”

You’re in good company. Moses did the same thing at the burning bush. His first response wasn’t a “yes, sir”—it was a “who am I?” He had a laundry list of reasons why he was a bad choice. He wasn’t eloquent. He was slow of speech. He was, in his own mind, unqualified.

THE SHIFT IN PERSPECTIVE

God didn’t give Moses a motivational speech or tell him to “believe in himself.” He gave him something better: a promise. “I will be with you.” That’s the pivot. Courage isn’t about your perfection; it’s about His presence. When Moses complained about his stutter, God didn’t deny it—He just reminded Moses who made his mouth in the first place. Your limitations aren’t a surprise to Him. They’re the stage where His strength actually shows up.

THE RED SEA MOMENT

The journey from “I can’t” to “He can” isn’t a straight line. Moses stepped out, and things actually got harder before they got better. Pharaoh doubled the workload, and the people turned on Moses. It’s easy to question the call when the heat gets turned up.

But look at the end of the story. The same man who was stammering at a bush eventually stood before a terrified nation with the Egyptian army at their backs and said:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.” — Exodus 14:13

KEEP MOVING

Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s choosing to trust God even when your knees are shaking. He isn’t asking you to be perfect; He’s asking you to be present. Whether you’re facing a tough conversation or a massive life shift, the promise remains the same: He is with you.

Duomo Shoutout: These insights were sparked by today’s devotional from Duomo. It’s a solid reminder to stop asking “Who am I?” and start remembering who He is.
