The Body as a Temple

The Body as a Temple

Let’s be honest. When we think about worship, we usually think about prayer, music, or reading Scripture. But we often forget that our physical health is an act of worship, too. Most of us either neglect our health or become obsessed with it—chasing “perfection” or ignoring the engine until it breaks down.

The truth is, your body isn’t yours. It was designed and entrusted to you by God. Taking care of it isn’t about vanity or guilt; it’s about stewardship.

Worship Beyond the Church Walls

Worship happens in the daily grind. It’s in how you treat the vessel you’ve been given. Offering your body as a living sacrifice means shifting from a “my body, my rules” mindset to one that honors the Designer.

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve got work to do here. I’ve spent plenty of time as a habitual offender when it comes to neglecting my own physical maintenance. It’s easy to prioritize the hustle over the health, but real stewardship means fueling well, getting enough rest, and moving—not as a punishment, but as a way to celebrate the strength we’ve been granted.

The Root of True Health

Stress and anxiety can be just as damaging as poor nutrition. When we try to control every detail ourselves, we lose our peace. True well-being starts in the soul. Trusting God actually brings health to the body and nourishment to the bones.

At the end of the day, your body is a tool for His purpose. When you take care of what you’ve been given, you reflect His glory.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
