Redeeming the Time
Time isn’t a resource you can earn back. Once a second ticks away, it’s gone. It’s easy to let the noise of the world, daily distractions, or misplaced priorities hijack the moments we’ve been given.
True time management isn’t about crushing a productivity spreadsheet or squeezing every drop of efficiency out of the clock. It’s about stewardship. It’s about using the days we have to honor God and live with clear intention.
Buy Back the Opportunities
Ephesians 5:15-16 gives us a blunt wake-up call:
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
Paul uses a phrase that translates to “redeeming the time.” Think of time as a currency. We are called to spend it deliberately. The world is full of cheap distractions designed to pull us away from what matters. Redeeming the time means cutting through the static, investing in things with eternal value, and focusing on the mission we’ve been handed.
Put First Things First
Jesus laid down the ultimate priority rule in Matthew 6:33:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
This isn’t an excuse to neglect your daily responsibilities, your work, or your family. It means anchoring your schedule around God’s purposes first. When you do that, the rest of the pieces fall into place. It requires the grit to say “no” to things that seem urgent right now but don’t matter in the grand scheme. Seeking the Kingdom first cuts through the chaos and brings real clarity.
Life is a Mist
We don’t own tomorrow. James 4:14 delivers a sobering reality check:
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
Life is short and entirely unpredictable. Managing your time wisely means keeping an eternal perspective. It means asking yourself if you’re building meaningful relationships and growing in faith, or if you’re just letting the temporary anxieties of this world consume your focus.
A Gift to be Stewarded
Every quiet morning, every breath, and every hour is a gift. How we use that gift is a direct reflection of our gratitude.
Let’s commit to walking with absolute intention. Stop letting distractions steal your focus. Balance the work, protect the peace of your rest, and live with the big picture in mind. When we walk in step with His plan, productivity takes care of itself, and true fulfillment follows.
