Fresh Air and Better Fish: The Grouper Shack
If you’re wandering through St. Augustine and want a break from the tourist traps, find your way to the Grouper Shack. It’s the kind of spot where the view is as honest as the food. No fluff, just a deck, a breeze, and a menu that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t have to.
The Starters
We kicked things off with the Fried Grouper Bites. Most places over-bread them until they’re just flavorless nuggets of crunch. Not here. These were light, clean, and let the fish do the talking.
The Main Event
The Blackened Mahi and Shrimp was absolute excellence. The seasoning had a grit to it that hit the palate just right without burying the freshness of the catch. Paired with a pile of waffle fries that actually stayed crispy, it was a solid win. Christy and I weren’t disappointed.
Good Company, Good Times
It’s a rare thing to find a spot that feels this peaceful. Between the slow morning and the time spent looking out over the water, it was exactly what we needed. Even Zippy would’ve appreciated the salt air, though he would’ve been campaigning hard for a piece of that mahi.
If you’re in the area, look up The Grouper Shack. This is a place you don’t want to miss!
