Walking Boldly Through the Storm

Walking Boldly Through the Storm

Life doesn’t just throw “inconveniences” at us; it hurls storms that aim to sink the ship. But as followers of Christ, we aren’t standing on the deck alone or shaking in our boots. The Word is clear: God is with us, He’s our strength, and He’s calling us to be courageous.

Real courage isn’t the absence of fear. Anyone who says they aren’t afraid in a hurricane is lying. True courage is choosing to trust God’s promises when you can’t see the shore. It’s believing His power is made perfect when we’re at our weakest.

Presence Over Circumstances

Joshua had the daunting job of leading Israel into a land he didn’t know. His grit didn’t come from his own ego; it came from God’s promise.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9

Our confidence can’t rest on shifting circumstances. It has to rest on the fact that God is already there, wherever “there” ends up being.

The Victory is Already Won

Jesus didn’t sugarcoat the truth. He told us we’d face trials. But He also gave us the ultimate reason to take heart.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

The cross and the resurrection prove that no struggle can defeat Him. When we are in Him, we share that victory. It’s not about our willpower; it’s about leaning into His Spirit.

Courage is a daily choice to believe that God is bigger than the storm. Take heart today. He is with you, and He has already overcome.

“I told a joke about a storm once… it blew everyone away.”
