Sunday Stillness

Sunday Stillness

Reflections from the Table

Yesterday, after the service ended, the noise of the world felt a little further away than usual. I wasn’t looking for a crowd or a line out the door. I just wanted a quiet seat to let the morning sink in. I headed over to Greeko’s.

I skipped my usual black coffee and went with a latte. The folks there took the time to craft a leaf in the foam—a solid piece of work for a simple cup. It’s a small thing, but there’s a certain respect in doing a job with that kind of care.

The Greek Omelet was exactly what I needed, served up with a side of fruit. No bells or whistles, just good flavor and a chance to sit in the peace that follows a morning in the Word.

The Value of the Pause

Sundays shouldn’t be a race to the next thing. We spend enough of the week chasing clocks and checking off lists. Taking that hour at a local hole-in-the-wall allows the dust to settle. It’s a time to reflect on the message and appreciate the life we’ve been given.

Christy was there to share the quiet, and even without Zippy under the table, the morning felt complete. There’s a strength in that kind of silence. It prepares you for whatever the coming week is going to throw at you.

Word for the Journey

“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while…”
