The Bedrock
Moses laid it out plain to people who had a bad habit of forgetting where their strength actually came from:
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.”
— Deuteronomy 7:9
A thousand generations. That isn’t poetry meant to make you feel warm inside. That’s an ironclad declaration.
God doesn’t manage relationships like a business transaction. He isn’t looking for a loophole to void the deal when you mess up. He makes a covenant, plants His feet, and holds the line.
Steadfast When Everything Else Rattles
Sitting on the back porch mid-morning with a hot coffee, watching Zippy track a squirrel along the fence line while Christy takes care of things inside—that quiet doesn’t happen by accident. Peace has to be built on something solid, especially when life decides to throw its weight around.
Most people look for security in numbers, bank accounts, or polished routines. But none of that holds up when the wheels come off.
Steadfast love means when everything around you shakes, the foundation under your boots doesn’t give a millimeter.
Holding the Line
God’s faithfulness isn’t a license to sit on your hands. Covenant goes both ways.
- Know who He is. Don’t mistake His patience for indifference.
- Keep your word. If God holds a covenant for a thousand generations, the least we can do is stand by ours today.
- Filter out the noise. The culture will try to sell you a hundred cheap substitutes for truth. Don’t buy them.
It comes down to a simple question: when the storm hits, what is your house built on? Choose the rock, do the work, and let the rest of the noise wash out.
