The Noise in Your Head

The Noise in Your Head

The world doesn’t whisper. It barks, demands, and drains your tank before you’ve even cleared the sleep out of your eyes.

If you let your thoughts run on default, they drift toward stress, ego, and damage. It’s human nature. It’s also a dead end.

Paul didn’t mince words about it:

“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” — Romans 8:6

Death doesn’t always show up in a pine box. Sometimes it looks like chronic anxiety, burned bridges, and a hollow gut. Feeding the wrong appetite always costs more than you budgeted.

Setting the Frequency

I’m not built for crack-of-dawn hustle. Never have been. Mid-morning hits, Christy is doing her thing, Zippy is stretched out on the rug without a care in the world, and my coffee is finally hot and black in my hand.

That silence isn’t an accident. It’s a defensive perimeter.

You have to actively choose what gets custody of your attention. You can let the flesh run the board—worrying about tomorrow’s check, nursing an old grudge, chasing validation that vanishes by lunchtime. Or you can hand the controls over to something eternal.

One path runs you straight into the ground. The other gives you room to breathe.

Life and Peace Don’t Just Happen

Peace isn’t the absence of trouble; it’s order on the inside while the storm does what storms do outside.

It takes work. It means catching yourself when your thoughts turn sour and pulling them back into line. Speak the truth. Cut the fluff. Love the people in your house well, take care of your dog, and stop letting the noise dictate terms.

Mind the gate. Life and peace are waiting on the other side.
