Believe It Before You See It
Most people treat prayer like a lottery ticket. They scratch it, hope for the best, and walk away expecting nothing.
That is not faith. That is wishful thinking.
The Hard Truth About Asking
Jesus did not mince words in Mark 11:24:
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” — Mark 11:24
Notice the tense. Believe that you have received it. Not “hope you might get it down the road.” That is past-tense conviction applied to a future reality.
I am not standing on a soapbox here preaching from higher ground. I struggle with this as much as anyone. My knee-jerk military instinct is to plan for the worst, build contingencies, and trust what I can physically control. Taking my hands off the wheel and actually believing the prayer is already answered goes against every practical fiber in my body. It is an everyday fight to quiet the noise and step out of the way.
God is not looking for timid, polite requests designed to protect our egos if the answer does not show up in the package we expected. He is looking for belief that steps out before the physical evidence arrives.
Faith in the Mud
It is easy to trust when the bank account is flush, the health report is clean, and the wind is at your back. Anyone can do that.
Real faith happens when circumstances look like a complete mess. It happens when you pray for direction or peace, but every visible sign tells you to panic.
Praying for rain while leaving your umbrella in the closet is just wasting breath. If you ask God to move, start walking like the ground under your feet is already firm.
Walk It Out
Take an honest look at your prayers today. Are you asking God to move, or are you just giving yourself permission to doubt?
- Pray with clarity. Stop beating around the bush. State what you need directly.
- Anchor your mind. Stop rehearsing worst-case scenarios.
- Act on the answer. Live like God actually keeps His word.
Believe first. The sight comes later.
