Stop White-Knuckling the Wheel
Most of us treat life like a wrestling match. We wake up, grab the day by the collar, and try to bend every circumstance to our own willpower.
We map out five-year blueprints. We obsess over the details. Then life throws a stray punch, the engine knocks, or plans crumble, and we wonder why our knuckles are raw and our stomachs are tied in knots.
The truth is simple: striving without surrender is just an exhausting way to stay stuck.
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
— Proverbs 16:3
The Muscle Memory of Trust
Look at the word commit. In the original Hebrew, it literally means to roll something over. To transfer a heavy boulder off your own shoulders and onto someone capable of carrying it.
It doesn’t mean you sit on the porch and wait for miracles while doing nothing. You still put your boots on. You still show up, do the honest work, and take care of what matters most—faith, home, family. But you quit acting like the outcome belongs to you.
You hand over the results. All of them. The successes, the false starts, and the wreckage from when things go sideways.
Finding Grounding in the Grind
Real peace doesn’t come from controlling the room. It comes from knowing the One who holds the blueprints.
Do the work set in front of you today. Pour your sweat into what counts, love your people fiercely, and release your grip on how it all wraps up. Roll the weight over. Let Him establish the steps.
