Holding the Line When Ground Shifts
Life has a way of ambushing you on an ordinary Tuesday.
One minute the coffee is hot, the house is quiet, and the world makes sense. The next, a phone call, a bill, or a body that decides to ache in a brand-new way tries to rattle your cage. Fear doesn’t knock politely. It kicks the door open and tries to set up camp in your head.
Anyone who tells you they’ve never felt that cold drop in the pit of their stomach is selling something. We all face terrain where our own boots slip.
You Aren’t Walking Point Alone
In the military, having someone covering your six isn’t a luxury—it’s survival. You trust the person behind you because you know what happens if nobody’s got your flank.
That is what Isaiah 41:10 is about. The passage lays it out straight: do not fear, because God is with you; do not look around in dismay, because He is your God. He promises to strengthen you, to help you, and to hold you upright with His righteous right hand.
Notice what isn’t there. There’s no fine print saying the storm vanishes or the hill levels out into an easy stroll. The promise isn’t an easy road; it’s a grip that doesn’t slip. When your strength runs dry, His doesn’t.
Anchor Down in the Storm
It’s easy to talk about faith when the sun is shining, Christy is smiling across the kitchen, and Zippy is sacked out at your feet without a care in the world.
The real test comes when the fog rolls in thick and the path forward looks like broken glass. That’s when you stop looking at the size of the fight and remember who’s holding your collar. You don’t have to carry the whole load on your own shoulders. You were never built to.
Take a slow breath. Drink the coffee. Let the noise of the world hammer away outside the glass if it wants to.
Stand your ground today, not because you’re invincible, but because the One holding you up has never once lost His footing.
