Living Out Our Calling
We aren’t here to coast. God uniquely gifted every single one of us for a specific boots-on-the-ground role in His kingdom. These spiritual gifts aren’t just natural talents or high IQ points. They are divine empowerments straight from the Holy Spirit, meant for service, not self-glorification.
The Blueprint of Gifts
In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, Paul lays it out straight. There are different kinds of gifts, different types of service, and different ways they work, but they all come from the same Spirit, the same Lord, and the same God.
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
You didn’t earn your gift through sweat equity or a solid resume. It was given to you by grace to build up the team. Every individual has a unique kit designed to fit into a much larger tactical plan.
One Body, Many Parts
Paul uses a gritty, practical analogy in Romans 12:4-6. A body has a lot of members, but they don’t all perform the same function. It’s the same with the Church. We are one body in Christ, and every single member belongs to all the others.
Your gift is never about personal glory. It is about the common good—period. It exists to reinforce the line, build up the church, and push the front lines of God’s kingdom forward.
Equipped for the Work
God doesn’t leave His people empty-handed. Ephesians 4:11-12 shows us how the structure works. He gave us leaders—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers—for one core reason: to equip His people for works of service so the body of Christ may be built up.
Some gifts are meant for leadership. Others are meant for support. But make no mistake: every single one is essential to the mission.
Don’t Hoard the Gear
Finally, 1 Peter 4:10 puts the responsibility squarely on our shoulders:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
We are stewards, not owners. The gifts we have aren’t ours to hoard, hide away, or sit on. They are tools to be deployed for God’s glory and the benefit of the people around us. Understanding your gift and actually using it is the key to living out the plan. It’s time to get to work.
