Locked In The Vault

Locked In The Vault

Most mornings don’t start at the crack of dawn around here. The world can rush all it wants; I’ll take my coffee mid-morning, dark and hot, once the house settles down.

Zippy is usually curled up on the rug by then, dead to the world, and Christy has the quiet routine moving. That pause before the noise hits is where the real work happens.

You Can’t Wing Everything

When I’m standing over a skillet, recipes are just polite suggestions. A pinch of this, a dash of that—you cook by smell, sizzle, and gut.

Building a foundation, though? That’s different. You don’t eyeball the framing of a house, and you don’t guess measurements when precision matters.

The heart works the same way. Leave it open to whatever junk drifts in off the street, and it’s going to collect dust, rust, and bad habits. If you want it to hold up when life hits hard, you have to pack it with something unshakeable.

The Blueprint

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
— Psalm 119:11

Hiding something doesn’t mean shoving it under the rug and forgetting where it went. It means locking it in the vault.

It’s putting truth deep enough down that when temptation, anger, or cheap shortcuts show up, the vault door stays shut. You don’t have to scramble for answers in the dark when you already stored the light where it belongs.

Do the Groundwork

Don’t wait for the engine to blow before checking the oil.

Get the Word in you while it’s quiet. Carry it into the chaos. Keep the main things solid, protect the home front, and let truth do the heavy lifting.
