Small Steps, Big Picture
The world wants you to focus entirely on the finish line. If you aren’t hitting massive milestones every single day, it’s easy to feel like you’re spinning your wheels. But real progress—the kind that builds grit and lasts—is incremental.
It is a solid reminder that God doesn’t despise the day of small things. We get so caught up in the long-term destination that we blind ourselves to the daily, incremental steps right in front of us.
What the Word Says About Progress
A few foundational truths cut straight through the noise:
- Joy in the Return: Luke 15:5–7 reminds us that there is active rejoicing over one lost sheep that is found. God takes joy in the progress of moving from lost to found, and in every step of spiritual growth that follows.
- Don’t Despise the Small: Rebuilding something meaningful can feel impossible when the initial progress looks tiny. Zechariah 4:10 explicitly warns against despising small beginnings. Every small step forward in faith and obedience matters.
- He Finishes the Work: 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says, “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” Progress isn’t about human perfection or white-knuckling your way to a flawless record. It’s about recognizing His faithfulness and trusting Him to complete what He started.
Celebrate the Grind
Celebrating progress isn’t about tracking corporate milestones or chasing a polished image. It’s about grounding yourself in gratitude, acknowledging the small wins, and keeping your boots moving forward.
This week, look at where you are, acknowledge the small steps, and trust the process.
