Life doesn’t pull its punches. Whether it’s an external roadblock or the internal rot of doubt and fear, obstacles are a guarantee. We like to think we can engineer our way around them. We can’t. But the objective isn’t avoidance. It’s endurance.
When the path gets blocked, our immediate instinct is to demand answers or look for the quickest exit. We live in a world obsessed with instant fixes. God doesn’t operate on our micro-schedules. True endurance requires trusting His timing and realizing our perspective is severely limited.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
— Isaiah 55:8–9
The Purpose of the Grind
We are told to view trials as opportunities for growth. That’s a tough pill to swallow when you’re in the thick of it. But testing produces perseverance, and perseverance builds maturity. It refines us. Grit isn’t the absence of struggle; it’s the choice to keep moving forward when the weight is heavy, knowing that God is using the friction to shape us.
“Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
— James 1:3–4
Fix Your Focus
When you stare at the mountain, it looks insurmountable. Fear and anxiety creep in, and it’s easy to get consumed by the scale of the problem. That’s where faith comes in. Faith shifts your focus off the circumstance and back onto the Promise. Even a small shred of genuine faith can move things that seem completely unmovable.
“If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
— Mark 9:23
You don’t face the roadblock alone. Step into it with God’s strength, rely on His grace to endure the timing, and let the trial do its work. He will equip you with exactly what you need to make it to the other side.
