The Two-Legged Stool: Faith and Obedience
Talk is cheap. It is easy to say we believe when the sun is shining and the coffee is hot. But real faith is not a passive sentiment. It is an active trust that demands boots-on-the-ground action.
Faith and obedience are completely interwoven. You cannot truly have one without the other. If we claim to trust God but refuse to follow His directions, our faith is incomplete. Obedience is simply the outward proof of an inward reality. It is not about reaching flawless perfection; it is about keeping a heart that is willing to align with His will, even when the road gets rough or uncomfortable.
The Real Reward
We do not follow orders just to check a box on a spiritual spreadsheet. There is a deep relationship built on this foundation.
“Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” — John 14:23
When we trust and obey, the reward isn’t a collection of superficial, external blessings. It is internal peace, stability, and the undeniable presence of the Father walking right beside us in the trenches.
The Ultimate Example
If you think obedience is an easy path, look at the ultimate example. Even Jesus, the Son of God, walked through suffering and trials to fulfill His purpose.
“Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered…” — Hebrews 5:8
If the path required sacrifice from Him, it will require sacrifice from us. Faith empowers us to move forward and do what is right, even when we cannot see around the next bend in the road.
Put your boots on. Trust Him, follow the orders, and let Him handle the rest.
