When Strength Hides Weakness
Our most destructive paths don’t start with weakness. They start with unchecked strength.
We assume external success means internal health. It’s a lie. When God’s gifts are unleashed without inner surrender, the life you build will eventually collapse.
“Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.” — Proverbs 25:28
Gifting Without Character
Samson had a monumental calling but zero foundation.
Gifting without character is a fault line. If your external platform outpaces your internal obedience, you are standing on dangerous ground. Calling is early; formation takes time. Skip the formation, and the platform will crush you.
The Appetite Compass
Samson let appetite guide him. He wanted it, so he took it.
Compromise once, nothing happens. Compromise twice, the sky doesn’t fall. You start to believe you are immune. But unchecked appetite is just a slow-burning fuse.
The tragedy of his story is brutal: “He did not know that the Lord had left him” (Judges 16:20). Collapse is rarely sudden. It is the sum of a thousand small, hidden surrenders.
Strength Without Walls
A man without self-control is entirely exposed. What you refuse to govern, the enemy will eventually conquer.
Samson was powerful, but he had no walls. He ended up blind, bound, and grinding at the mill. Not because God abandoned him, but because Samson refused to surrender his strength back to the One who gave it.
The Bottom Line
True strength is power under control. Ask yourself the hard questions:
- Where am I strong but undisciplined?
- Where am I making excuses for my appetites?
- Who is allowed to tell me the truth?
Bring your gifts and your weaknesses to the altar. Let Him build the walls before the storm hits.
