Why Formation Must Lead to Sending

Every time God forms someone in Scripture, it’s not to display them on a shelf. Formation is the prep work. God builds us up so He can send us out.

Kill the Old Motives

Transformation means the old ways don’t drive the bus anymore.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Trying to live out a new calling while clinging to your old comfort zone doesn’t work.

Fan the Flame

Spiritual maturity takes intentional effort. You have to fan the flame God put in you, relying on His grace rather than your own hustle.

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God…” — 2 Timothy 1:6

Step into the Mission

Being sent isn’t about a title—it’s directional purpose right where your feet are planted.

  • Identify the target: Who or what has God put directly in front of you?
  • Clear the friction: Dump the fear and perfectionism.
  • Take ground: Execute. Motion creates momentum.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” — Philippians 1:6

Formation without deployment is just hoarding grace. Step up and get to work.
