Stop Chasing Signs and Start Walking
We spend way too much time waiting for a sign written in the sky. We get paralyzed worrying that one wrong turn will wreck our entire life. That isn’t faith. That’s living in fear.
God doesn’t expect you to guess your way through a minefield. Discernment isn’t about finding a single magic sign—it’s about built-in wisdom, clear boundaries, and steady walking.
The Four Ground Rules of Discernment
When you’re trying to figure out the next step, stop waiting for lightning to strike and look at what’s right in front of you:
- Alignment: If it breaks God’s word, the answer is already no. You don’t need to pray about what Scripture already forbids.
- Wisdom: Talk to people who actually have a track record of good judgment. Blind spots will wreck you if you refuse to listen.
- Desire: When your heart aligns with God, your honest desires matter. God shapes what you care about over time.
- Providence: Look at open and closed doors. God uses real-world circumstances to direct your steps, not just feelings.
Moving Forward Without Panic
Most of the time, the path ahead isn’t a laser-beam map. It’s a flashlight that shows you just enough for the next step.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6
Stop waiting for absolute certainty before you move your feet. Make a wise choice, align it with the Word, and take the step. God is big enough to handle your decisions when your heart is set on following Him.
